Biography
Carani B Sanjeevi MD, PhD is a Professor at the Karolinska Institute (KI) in the Department of Medicine. Dr Sanjeevi obtained his MD from India, PhD from KI in 1994 and did post-doc at the University of Washington in Seattle during 1994-1995 and has been at KI since then. Sanjeevi heads a research group at the Center for Molecular Medicine in KI. He is editor for the 'Immunology of Diabetes' series volumes (1 to 5) published by The Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences and served in the Editorial board of several journals like Diabetologia, Human Immunology, Current Diabetes Reviews Islets etc. Sanjeevi also served in the Council of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and had won several awards in the field of Diabetes from EASD and diabetes research foundations. He is visiting professor in several universities. He is also the secretary of the Immunology of Diabetes Society. Since 2000, he has served as KI's scientific coordinator for India and promoted Academy-Academy, Academy-Industry and Industry-Industry partnerships between KI and India as well as Sweden and India. Since 2006, he has been Senior advisor to Business Sweden, an agency that belongs to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Govt of Sweden. He is also Senior Advisor to the Innovation Office of KI and promotes Ideas to IPs and find Indian investment partners for such IPs.
